character :: Kellen Prine

Kellen didn't need help. His manager told him so. He had shoots to attend, modeling contracts to fill, interviews to hold and parties to host. His attendance at Greystone Manor that night was nothing short of mandatory; and there'd be enough Dust there to keep him entertained. His eyes rolled around in his head as he pulled another line, openly. There's something about being this rich that allows a man to be above the law, above the rules of humanity.

His knuckles stung, a broad cut with six tiny butterfly stitches carefully sewn in stretching over the bone as he gripped his phone. Another story for the tabloids. Kellen hoped they would choke on it. At home, his boyfriend would be clutching his own phone, huddled in the corner - he wouldn't be calling anyone, but he'd be thinking about it.

His head pounded, his heart surged, and he wanted something different. Something safe. The thought of being at home with Jaxson filled his mind. The scent, the soft feel, the fleeting joy, all of it. Being in this club with the loud music and too-expensive drugs felt oily on his tongue. He wanted out, out out. Out of everything.

Ricky could tell. ''You don't need to leave, man. You are going to stay.'' he said, the manager flashing his multi-million dollar smile. He pushed forward a mirrored slate, a fine line of white powder laying next to a rolled $100 and a razor blade. ''Do it. You'll feel better.'' The three Brazilian models who were his guests of honor looked expectantly at the actor, their pouty lips looking like baboon's asses. Their perfume made him dizzy, and the thought of fucking one (or all three) of them later made his stomach churn.

Another voice filled his mind. ''Do it, pussy.'' spat the old man, the sound of his voice filling the deepest creases of his mind. ''Do it now and show that faggot at home what he's worth.''

Kellen wasn't a man to refuse that kind of threat. That kind of word. That voice that was ever there, telling him to do all manner of things; stealing a role, beating the shit out of his boyfriend, acting crazy for the camera. Always crazy. But Kellen doesn't need help - Hollywood told him so.
