The world had fallen into chaos. Living a normal, day to day life, was a gamble on whether one would be able to return home that evening or whether they too would become a victim of the highest rape, robbery and homicide statistic in the world: the United States. In this time of fear and doubt, the people could only blame the politicians for not putting more measures in place to protect them and hope was slowly fading until one political candidate restablished what he felt people seemed to be missing most: faith. It seemed like a good option at first, after all, what harm could prayer do? But slowly, it evolved into something sinister and faith was no longer an option...it was a requirement.
Church services, sermons blasted on loud speakers throughout cities and on televisions at all hours of the day and night, propoganda plastered on buildings and more faithful sheep following the 'good word', blind to the fact that slowly, they were becoming the majority as all other religion was snuffed out silently. For years, things continued in this pattern of 'repent or else' and Warren, the son of a preacher in a small city just outside of Sioux City, thought that he'd be safe. Sure, he had a few run-ins with the law (mostly arson) and he didn't buy any of the religious bullshit they were spewing but his dad was a preacher so surely cleared any black marks off his record.
